Olivier Salad in Aunt Bessie’s Mini Yorkshire Puddings



This Vegetable Salad, also known as Olivier Salad, it has always been part of our family table, especially during celebrations and gatherings. Creamy, comforting and full of finely chopped vegetables, it’s a salad that instantly brings a sense of home.

For this version, I decided to serve it in Aunt Bessie’s Mini Yorkshire Puddings turning a familiar classic into a charming little bite. Crisp on the outside and soft inside, the mini Yorkshires make the perfect edible cups, ideal for parties, festive tables or simply when you want to serve something traditional in a slightly playful way.

It’s a small twist on a beloved classic, but one that always makes people smile.


Ingredients

  • 200 g potatoes

  • 200 g carrots

  • 200 g peas

  • 4–5 eggs

  • 200 g pickled gherkins

  • 200 g ham

  • Mayonnaise, as needed


Method

  1. Boil the potatoes, carrots, peas and eggs.

  2. Once cooled, dice everything into small cubes.

  3. Add chopped ham and gherkins.

  4. Mix everything well with mayonnaise.

  5. Chill in the fridge before serving.


Serving Tips

  • Delicious served simply with bread for a quick meal.

  • Can be presented in small cups or mini puff pastry shells for appetizers.

  • For a lighter version, mix the mayonnaise with a little sour cream or yogurt.


Tips for the Perfect Olivier Salad

Do not overcook the vegetables – potatoes and carrots should be tender but firm enough to hold their shape when diced.

Chill all ingredients well before mixing – this keeps the salad compact and fresh.

Dice into uniform cubes – small, even pieces give a prettier presentation and a better balance of flavors.

Add mayonnaise gradually – to keep it creamy, not too heavy.

For a lighter version, you can mix mayonnaise with a little sour cream or yogurt.

Let it rest in the fridge for at least 1–2 hours – this allows the flavors to meld perfectly.

Ruska Salata

Postoje jela koja ne pripadaju samo stolu već uspomenama.

Ruska salata je jedno od njih. Uvek prisutna na praznicima, slavama, porodičnim okupljanjima… uvek u velikoj činiji iz koje se uzima, još samo malo. Sećam se kako se kuhinja puni mirisom kuvanog povrća, a mi krišom uzimamo kockice krompira dok mama još uvek secka sastojke.

Svaka kuća ima svoju verziju sa više krastavaca, bez salame, sa domaćim majonezom ili onim kupovnim. I baš u toj raznolikosti krije se njena lepota. Jednostavna, a bogata ukusom, ova salata je više od recepta ona je deo tradicije koji se prenosi, menja i ostaje.


Sastojci:

  • 200 g krompira

  • 200 g mrkve

  • 200 g graška

  • 4–5 jaja

  • 200 g kiselih krastavaca

  • 200 g salame

  • Majonez po potrebi


Priprema:

  1. Krompir, mrkvu, grašak i jaja skuvati.

  2. Kada se sve prohladi, iseckati na sitne kockice.

  3. Dodati seckanu salamu i krastavce.

  4. Sve dobro sjediniti sa majonezom.

  5. Ohladiti u frižideru pre služenja.


Saveti za serviranje

  • Odlična je i samo sa hlebom za brzi obrok.

  • Može se poslužiti u malim korpicama kao kanape za zabave i slavske stolove.

  • Za lakšu varijantu, majonez pomešaj sa malo pavlake ili jogurta.


Saveti za savršenu rusku salatu

Nikako prekuvati povrće – krompir i mrkva treba da budu mekani, ali čvrsti da zadrže oblik pri sečenju

Sve sastojke dobro ohladiti pre mešanja – tako salata ostaje kompaktna i sveža

Seckati na jednake kockice – sitno i uredno daje lepši izgled i bolji balans ukusa

Majonez dodavati postepeno – da ne bude previše težak, već kremast

Za lakšu varijantu možeš pomešati majonez sa malo pavlake ili jogurta

Ostavi da odstoji u frižideru bar 1–2 sata – tada se ukusi najbolje povežu
