A Journey That Is Still Waiting_Our Plan to Sail from Dammam

Sometimes travel stories begin long before the journey itself.
For a while now, we have been looking forward to finally visiting Dammam, the coastal city on the shores of the Arabian Gulf.
This year, we finally plan to take a cruise across the Arabian Gulf and somewhere between the horizon and the sunset, we will raise our glasses to 30 years of marriage.
The journey is still waiting, but it already lives in our imagination.

Our plan this year sounded perfect we would start there and board a cruise that would sail across the warm waters of the Gulf, visiting several cities along the way.
But travel has a way of writing its own story.
Last year, we also had plans that suddenly changed. A delayed flight forced us to cancel everything we had arranged. Instead of continuing the journey we had imagined, we found ourselves heading to Cairo. What first felt like a disruption turned into an unexpected adventure, wandering through ancient streets, discovering old churches and markets and experiencing the rhythm of a city that never seems to sleep.
This year felt like the moment to finally return to the original idea to see Dammam, to walk along its corniche and to begin a cruise across the Arabian Gulf.
I imagined the quiet excitement of arriving at the port, the slow departure of the ship and the endless horizon where sea and sky meet. There is something magical about the thought of watching sunsets from the deck of a ship, somewhere between destinations.
But once again, plans changed.
Because of the current situation in the world, the cruise has been cancelled. The journey that was meant to begin in Dammam will have to wait a little longer. And yet, I’ve learned that postponed journeys are not lost journeys. They simply become stories that are still being written.
One day, I hope we will finally stand on that shore, looking out at the calm waters of the Arabian Gulf, ready to begin the trip that has already lived for so long in our imagination.
Until then, this remains a journey that is still waiting.

Zamišljala sam tihu uzbuđenost dolaska u luku, lagano isplovljavanje broda i beskrajni horizont gde se more i nebo susreću.
