Slani Štapići / Salty Sticks

Please scroll down for English

Odlicni, jednostavni a toliko dobri.

2. Kad je testo nadoslo preruciti ga na pobrasnjenu radnu povrsinu i blago premesiti. Razvaljati oklagijom na otprilike 0.5-1cm, premazati razmucenim jajetom i posoliti. Ostrim nozem seci trake sirine 2cm i duzine 10cm ih samo blago zavrnuti.

Salty Sticks

Super easy to make the way you like it - vary the ingredients to create your perfect flavor of salty sticks!

Ingredients

1 sachet fast-action yeast

1 tsp sugar

300-400 ml warm milk

1 kg plain flour

250 g butter, melted

2 beaten eggs

1 tsp sea salt flakes, to sprinkle

Method

1. Put the yeast and sugar in a mug with 100 ml warm milk and leave for a couple of minutes to rise.

2. In a large bowl, mix the flour and melted butter together, then stir in the yeast mixture. Mix in enough of the remaining milk until you are able to form a soft dough with your hands. Turn out onto a floured surface and knead well for 10 minutes.

3. Cover with a clean tea towel and leave in a warm place for 45-60 minutes until it has doubled in size. Preheat the oven to 180°C.

4. .Using a rolling pin, roll out the dough until it is at a thickness of 1 cm, then brush with the egg wash. Sprinkle salt all over.

5. With a sharp knife, cut the dough into sticks around 2 cm wide and 10-15 cm long. You can leave the sticks like this, or you can twist them to achieve the same look as in the pictures below. Place on a large baking tray and bake for 8-10 minutes.

Tip

Because of this recipe's simplicity, there are endless possibilities when experimenting with flavor! I recommend adding some grated cheese into the dough and sprinkling with poppy or sunflower seeds before baking.
